Grilled Lamb Chops

Simple Grilled Lamb chops were on the menu today. Lamb has always been the least popular of all red meats in North America. Most people prefer beef, pork and veal over lamb, mainly because availability and tradition. After living in Europe and the Middle East for many years, I came to realize the taste of properly cooked lamb is a great change from other table fare.

The average American only eats, on the average about 3/4 lb of lamb per year, while in places like New Zealand, the average is about 50 lbs!  Ground lamb is good for a different taste in a burger or a kofta. However simple Grilled Lamb Chops were on the menu today. Firstly Kosher salt, black pepper, trimmed chops. Afterwards a hot grill was all that I needed to turn out a plateful of tender,  medium rare chops. They were delicious. The only negative on lamb chops is the cost. I suspect that if more people ate lamb in the U.S., the price would probably be better.
