I took a short drive and ferreted out a couple Saturday Odds and Ends photos, from the Kemah/Seabrook TX area. Motorcycles, speedboats and a Crossfit workout session were the subjects on this fine spring day. With no particular agenda, I wandered. I was looking for people and things that represented the transition from winter to spring. My short ride revealed a few examples to share.
First there was a crossfit meeting in a parking lot near the boardwalk in Kemah. A dedicated bunch lifting heavy things. It all looked a bit strenuous, but made for an interesting photo of their photographer.
Next, the fine weather encouraged the bike enthusiasts to head toward the coast. This shiny Harley Davidson motorcycle was spotless. The owner obviously takes pride in his ride. I thought it made a pleasing photo sparkling in the sun.
Finally a local marine retailer had The Miss GEICO Mystic #113 on display in the parking lot. Miss GEICO is one of the fastest offshore powerboats in the world. This is a large, heavy and powerful boat. The boat is 50 feet long, weighs 10,000 lbs. With twin turbine engines, this beast packs 4,000 horsepower.
Saturday Odds and Ends is a fun way to see what’s going on in my area. Further, it’s a good excuse to break out the camera. Sometimes a ride with no objective can be revealing. There is always something that catches the eye.
In conclusion, get out. Take a ride. Let your eyes wander and you may be surprised at what you see.
