Well, William Grant gave up a bit today to a University of Texas graduate. (see this previous post) It was VERY smooth. Maybe the extra aging in the bottle was good for it, but I always thought that once out of the barrel, there was no more development?
The reason for the bottle. I received it from a good friend on the occasion of my eldest daughter’s birth, almost 22 years ago. However instead of partaking at that time, I promised to save it until she graduated from college. The bottle sat quietly and gathered dust as it moved from house to house and country to country. Furthermore for most of those many years, I forgot about the bottle and the promise. Finally as the day grew closer, I pulled the bottle from the recesses of the liquor cabinet and dusted it off. I carefully packed this symbol and prepared for a trip to Austin. William Grant was going to breathe and celebrate liberation from a 22 year solitary confinement.
Today was that day and I am a proud father of a perfect daughter and a new University of Texas graduate. We shared a bit together on this milestone in her life. It was a good day.
