Zamberlan Vioz GT Hiking Boots are what I have been looking for in a great pair of hiking boots. I have been looking since my last trip to Big Bend because my old boots reached their limit on that trip. Reading and researching is good. But there is a time to sort out your choices by trying them all on and making a decision. I stopped by REI in Houston today and tried on 3 pairs of Asolo boots. Then the Zamberlan Vioz GT Hiking Boots. The difference was clear immediately. The construction is robust. Additionally they are not as heavy as reported by some of the reviews I had read.
My feet are a difficult fit, because they are kind of wide, but these boots fit like a glove. They are extremely comfortable and with aggressive Vibram outsoles, Waterproof GORE TEX liner, and a good stiff shank. I intend to wear them this week as a break-in period, but I will be using them for real pretty soon. I have no doubt that these boots will shine on the trail. So, if you want sturdy, heavy-duty backpacking boots that are comfortable right out of the box, Zamberlan Vioz GT Hiking Boots may be for you. Of course, the true test will be the condition of my feet after the first 30 mile hike. I’ll follow up after a real test on these Italian gems. One caveat…these boots are a bit on they pricey side……
