Chisos Mountain Panoramas

On a recent trip to Big Bend National Park, I shot sequences that could be merged into Chisos Mountain Panoramas.  I stitched the panos using Adobe Lightroom.  I have used other software before to make panos. However the latest version of Lightroom does a pretty good job. I generated three Chisos Mountain Panoramas:

Firstly is a merge of ten photos from the Sotol Vista overlook. Sotol Vista is a great place to capture sunset.

Secondly six images merged from a ridge overlooking the Basin near Laguna West. Laguna West has nice campsites and access to Upper Cattail Canyon.

And thirdly is a view from the southwest Rim. Some of the finest views in Texas are from the Chisos Mountains South Rim.

Broad vistas encourage the photographer to put together panoramas. It is difficult to capture the vastness without resorting to this technique. A simple wide angle lens captures angle, but the perspective doesn’t provide enough detail.

Lighting conditions were not ideal for any of these three panoramas but I think they are interesting.

Panoramas lend themselves to printing. However only a large format printer does the Chisos Mountains Panoramas justice. There are services available that can print almost any size. Banners and posters look great. Frame these large format prints and hang them on your favorite display wall.

I have attached the thumbnails below. Clicking will open the full sized version in a new window. However they are a tad large so be warned. They may take a bit to load if you have a slow net connection.
