San Antonio Texas

While waiting to pick someone up in San Antonio Texas, I wandered around the Alamo and took a few pictures. it was a cold blustery day with very few visitors. Some people are not impressed by the Alamo, but I like the place. It is a very sacred site in Texas history and the whole country. “Remember the Alamo”. The city is deeply ingrained in the history of the Republic of Texas and ultimately the State of Texas. Along with four other Spanish colonial missions in San Antonio, the Alamo was designated in 2015 as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. This is the first in Texas and one of only twenty-three in the United States.Mission The other missions within striking distance of the Alamo are Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission San Juan and Mission Espada, Along with the Alamo (officially Mission Valero) all are part of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. San Antonio is a city of two blended cultures. It has a good climate, good food and the feeling of a smaller more intimate place than its population would indicate.  To see more on these historic mission sites visit my photo essay of the other San Antonio Texas Spanish colonial missions.
