Daily photo from the Archive – France

In this Daily photo from the Archive – France, Leave it to the French to have a dog that is appropriate for the personality. The Afghan hound and its owner are both long-legged and shiny. The guy on the left appears to be admiring one or both of these pedestrians on the streets of Nice, France. I was travelling Europe by train in the 80’s and came across many sights. A sense of style in France is a matter of being aware that someone is looking at you and maybe judging you. So it is just an awareness that you must please whoever looks at you. It seems obvious that this lady and her dog were aware they would be looked at. A French woman would never leave the house in sweatpants even to walk her dog at 11 p.m. I came across this pair on the busy streets of Nice. Nice is the presumptive capital of the French Rivera, but is more of a working people’s town than St. Tropez, St. Raphael and Cannes. It is within close striking distance of all three. It is also a short train ride to Monaco. Along with this Daily photo from the Archive – France, I have posted others of Monaco’s Harbor and the changing of the palace guard.
