A meeting with the Vice President

A meeting with the Vice President doesn’t happen every day. In the period of time between Dick Cheney’s role as Secretary of Defense during the presidency of George H. W. Bush, and his position as Vice President under George W. Bush, Cheney was chairman and CEO of Halliburton Company from 1995 to 2000. I had the opportunity to meet him on some of his many visits to the Middle East, where I was working and living at the time. The broad base of oil producing countries in the area led to frequent visits by our then CEO.  He was an interesting and cordial man, intelligent and approachable. In the photo below, we are discussing energy business operations in Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates. Mr. Cheney was very interested in the day to day operations and asked many insightful questions about the local business. This photo was published in a Time Magazine article in 2000 prior to the election. Not surprisingly Time Magazine mis-characterized the photo in their article, misquoting location and people in the photo. I am quite sure of these facts as I am in the center of the photo and was portrayed as an executive of the company, which I absolutely wasn’t!!
