How many parking tickets can you get? I lived in England for about 6 months and stayed in a guest house/hotel that had no parking. As a result I parked on the street for a long time, much to the chagrin of the “traffic warden”. A traffic warden is the English version of a meter maid, and this warden and I did battle for my entire stay. If I remember correctly, the ticket total was 32 violations. I talked to her many times over the period of my residence, but she kept writing, and writing, and writing………..In London the first 40 wardens, were dressed in military-style uniforms with yellow shoulder flashes and cap bands, They could issue  £2 fines for those who parked on the new double yellow lines. In addition to issuing fines, they were tasked with helping drivers find parking spaces. I don’t know how much different the system was outside of London. In Great Yarmouth, where this warden stalked the streets, there was never any offer of help to find a parking place. Sometime in 2015, three traffic/parking wardens were arrested in Great Yarmouth for turning off pay-to-park kiosks and collecting cash from the drivers. The cash went straight into their pockets. I don’t insinuate any thing about “my” traffic warden. She was just doing her job without passion or prejudice.
