Perseid Meteor Shower 2013

The Perseid meteor shower 2013 is starting to peak now. Every August the best-known meteor shower, makes its appearance. This year, the Perseid meteor shower is expected to reach its peak overnight on Monday (Aug. 12). I got out tonight to see if I could capture a few streaking visitors from space. Not much success, but considering I live in suburban Houston, I didn’t expect much. I saw 3 meteors in about 1 hr. and captured one in a photo. However the light pollution in my area is pretty bad and I consider it lucky that I saw anything at all. Below is a picture of a fast streak in the northeast sky. It never really gets dark here. Additionally a thin veil of high clouds was reflecting the city lights from the north of me. Meanwhile I’ll try again tomorrow night and hope for something better.
