Wings over Houston

I drove out of the neighborhood to get away from the trees and get a better view of the Wings over Houston action at Ellington Field. Yesterday and today the annual Wings over Houston Airshow was performed with great weather and a fun show. I never actually went to the show, I just take photos nearby in my neighborhood. My vantage point gets me away from the crowds and traffic problems and still offers a perfect vantage point. I think the photos will clearly demonstrate that. The show rotates out the keynote performance between the Blue Angels, Air Force Thunderbirds and the Canadian Snowbirds. This year the Snowbirds performed their precision program under partly cloudy skies and light winds. Reasonable lighting allowed me to get a few decent photos of the show. The close proximity of Ellington Field to my home makes it convenient to catch the show every year. I actually get some great access during the practice flights on the Friday before the actual show starts. Over the years, I have been able to chronicle multiple shows. Images from these outings are available here and here. If you happened to be in the Houston area during the month of October, take the time to get out and visit. You won’t be disappointed.
